Laura is a Spanish fashion photographer who swaps static poses for mesmerising motion. We spoke to her to find out just how she developed her exquisite analogue stylings and how she came across fashion photography.
‘My work feeds on desire. There are moments of ups and downs, but we must try not to lose the drive to succeed. It is a desire to see and observe continuously and to let that inspire me. I love sculptures, paintings, music, films and books; all this helps me to grow artistically and develop new ideas…’
Do you encourage the use of new technology or do you prefer to work with film only?
‘New technologies will always make our work easier as they are an evolution in technology. Although, personally, I rarely stray from analogue. It is what I like most and what I feel most connected with. I think it is a magical style because it involves more effort; you have to think more about each shot as you can only take a finite number.
I also think that the colours and aesthetics of film are more beautiful than digital. No matter how hard you try to match a digital photograph to an analogue one, it will never be the same.…’
